Weekend Journals are a new, independent producer of design-focused travel books that aim to inspire people to travel and explore. Their first self-published book, a contemporary guide to Cornwall, was released in October 2016 and has sold over 1,500 copies in its first 6 months. It is stocked in 35 stores across the UK and has received features in a number of national publications.
‘Cornwall by Weekend Journals’ is the definitive new guide to exploring the fairest English county. Written by Milly Kenny-Ryder, produced by Simon Lovell and with photographs by Gabriel Kenny-Ryder, the Weekend Journals team have strong family links to Cornwall and have been visiting with their families since they were young. Using these connections, they have gone off the beaten track to discover the venues that the locals love, while also showcasing some of Cornwall’s most iconic sites and stories. Following extensive research and time spent travelling round Cornwall, they have uncovered unique and special venues, from verdant gardens to visionary galleries, independent shops and exceptional restaurants. The book features 40 venues as well as interviews with 2-michelin starred chef, Nathan Outlaw, prestigious hotelier, Olga Polizzi, up-and-coming designer, Tom Raffield, and Cornwall’s only hotel concierge, Sid Williams of The Idle Rocks.
As well as their Cornwall book, Weekend Journals also offer signed, limited-edition, fine-art prints of all photographs from the book, and have produced a set of 10 high-quality postcards.
